Vehicle release requirements

For the release of an impounded vehicle

To retrieve your vehicle from Kelly Towing, you must be able to provide the following documentation. Please review all requirements before coming to our facility at 736 South Main Avenue, Scranton PA.

To drive your vehicle out — all three required
Photo ID
State-issued ID, Military ID, or Passport. Must match the name on the registration or title.
Registration or Title — proof of ownership
Must match the Photo ID presented. Both documents must be in the same name.
Valid Insurance Card
Current, valid auto insurance for the vehicle being released.
Current State Safety Inspection (PA vehicles)
Vehicle must have a current, valid Pennsylvania safety inspection sticker.
Licensed driver to operate the vehicle
A valid driver's license is required to drive the vehicle off our lot.
Law enforcement holds
Municipal, State & Federal Agency Holds

Vehicles towed by Municipal or State police agencies may be placed on hold status, meaning the vehicle is not available for customer access or release until authorized by the law enforcement agency.

These vehicles require an official release authorization from the law enforcement agency that ordered the tow. The agency must contact us directly:

A release acknowledgement form is required for all vehicle releases. You can download the PDF below and bring it completed to our facility, or complete the process online through our release portal.

Step by step

How to get your vehicle released

Follow these steps to get your vehicle back as quickly as possible.

Confirm vehicle location

Call 570-941-2480 or start online at release.kellytow.com to confirm your vehicle is at our facility and check its status.

Check for holds

If your vehicle was towed by police, confirm with the agency that authorized the tow that any hold has been lifted before coming in.

Gather your documents

Bring your Photo ID, registration or title, valid insurance card, and confirm your vehicle has a current PA inspection.

Complete the release form

Complete the release acknowledgement online at release.kellytow.com or in person at our facility at 736 South Main Ave.

05

Pay any fees & drive out

Settle any outstanding towing and storage fees. If you cannot drive the vehicle out, we can arrange a tow to another location.
